The UCDP is a unique source of information for researchers, practitioners and policymakers. UCDP also provides encyclopedic texts, charts, graphs and visualization tools. UCDP codes over 500 variables in 18 datasets describing three forms of organized violence, actors, issues, and peace efforts globally from 1946 (or 1989) to present. UCDP produces high-quality data, which are systematically collected, have global coverage, are comparable across cases and countries, and have long time series that are updated annually. Its definitions of state based armed conflict, non-state conflict and one-sided violence has become the global standard for how conflicts are systematically defined, measured and studied. UCDP is the world’s main provider of data on organized violence.
